I'd like to thank the Baseball Hall of Fame for playing with my emotions.
Two weeks ago they inducted my favorite player of all-time--Andre Dawson--into the Hall.
Today, they announced he is going in wearing a Montreol Expos jersey instead of for my beloved Cubs.
It's the equivalant of bagging a hot chick only to find out she's packing wood when you get her in the sack.
The Hall's argument? Dawson's greatest contribution to baseball was when he played for the Expos. You know, the Expos that don't even exist anymore. Why would baseball even want the Expos remembered in anyway? They were in Cananda. Fans didn't support them. MLB owned them, then they moved. Hell, their best years--1981 and 1994--were both strike years.
For the Cubs, Dawson signed a blank contract and gave it to the front office. The Cubs in return pretty much screwed him salary wise. But Dawson didn't care, hitting 40 homers and winning the NL MVP for the last place Cubs. In 1989 he played for a playoff Cubs team which may of won the World Series if they could've figured out how to pitch to Will Clark and Matt Williams.
Dawson played with class and grace. He should go in the Hall with the team he wants, not a team that doesn't exist.
